The UnBroker Podcast is built on the belief that being imperfectly human is your advantage.
With so much marketing now AI-generated and perfectly polished, it's easy to fall into the same trap. The real value is in being proud of who you are, imperfections and all, and having the confidence to put that version of yourself out there unapologetically.

Early in my career, I had an idea in my head of what a mortgage broker was supposed to look and sound like, and I thought that in order to be successful, I needed to become that. I dressed more conservatively, covered my tattoos and tried to present a more polished version of myself.
The pressure went beyond how I looked. I thought I needed to know exactly what to say, make every call perfectly and have everything figured out before I put myself out there. I was putting so much energy into getting it right that I wasn't doing the things that would actually move my business forward.
I started my career with BRX Mortgage and still work with the brokerage today. Being coached early on by our CEO, Scott Peckford, changed how I approached building my business, though I didn't make it easy for him. At first I resisted a lot of what he was coaching me to do. I didn't want to call potential referral partners. I didn't want to talk about mortgages on social media. I didn't want to put myself out there until I was "ready."
A few months in, after struggling to build my business my own way, I sent Scott a message. I told him I looked different than a lot of mortgage brokers, and I was worried people would judge my ability or make assumptions about me because of it.
His advice was simple: stop trying to be somebody else and lean into who I am.
So I started making the calls. I started speaking more like myself and worrying less about whether I looked or sounded like what I thought a mortgage broker should be. My business started to change almost right away, and so did my confidence.
That was the first time I really understood that being myself wasn't something I needed to work around. I could be professional, capable and serious about my work without becoming a different version of myself.
It changed the way I looked at business, too. I started paying attention to the people and content I actually connected with, and it was never the perfect videos or marketing that stood out. It was the people willing to talk about the parts that didn't go to plan, and what those moments taught them.
I've also been fortunate to have a wide variety of life experience, and some of the most useful lessons I use in my business today came from parts of my life that have nothing to do with mortgages. One experience carries into another in ways you don't expect.
That's where The UnBroker Podcast came from.
I sit down with people from a wide variety of careers to talk about the parts of their story that don't make it onto a resume: what they struggled with, what they got wrong, what they had to work through and what they learned because of it. One person's experience can save you years of figuring it out on your own.
I want you to walk away with a lesson, a way of thinking or a decision you can actually use in your own life or business. And I want you to feel more confident being yourself while you do it.

Not a more polished version. Not the version you think people expect. Who you are, imperfections and all.
